Best New York Style Pizza in the Pikes Peak Region
Leon Gessi’s Pizza on the northeast corner of Palmer Park and Union has the best New York style pizza in town. Whether you’re buying a take-out pizza or dining inside, Leon Gessi’s makes the best pizza you’ve ever tasted, and they sell it by the slice or in three different sizes of pizza pie. Leon Gessi’s is so popular that it’s no wonder they’ve opened a new location on the north side of town. Every night, Leon Gessi’s offers different dining specials. For instance we like to stop there to meet friends on Monday evenings. From 3 pm until closing, patrons can buy two 16” pizzas and get a free order of buffalo bread or a large pitcher of domestic beer for $4.50 or a pitcher of premium for only $9. The calzones are incredible and so are the salads and 8” sub sandwiches. My favorite is the meatball sub although it’s a tough decision now that they’ve added the roasted chicken submarine sandwich. The original Leon Gessi’s Pizza, with its disarming storefront and old world atmosphere reminds me of the storefront pizza parlors I love to visit in New York City.
