The Sound Garden is an oasis of vinyl in a desert of ipods and downloads. This is the place to put your hands on a real vintage vinyl record, hum along with the smoky dirge of an original recording of Billy Holliday or quiz the staff over a novelty tune from the 1950’s. These records are not just on display, there are tons of records for people to collect and play. There are actually a surprising number of people who still own turntables and are looking for records of old favorites and new suggestions.

The Sound Garden also carries scads of Broadway show tunes, soundtracks of movies from every genre and stays up-to-date with new music trends and artists.

The best thing about the Sound Garden is the staff. Find a new CD and if they have a used copy, they’ll tell you and you can save a couple of dollars. The worst thing about Sound Garden is the parking. The only available spots are on Fell Street and they are at a premium. Still all in all, it is definitely worth hiking a couple of blocks for a treasure trove of vinyl gems.
